2008-07-02 ASUS Express Gate

Heya! I’m trying ASUS Express Gate now. They wrote 5 sec bootup time and what I learned it is a Linux based mini-os. I thought this is sooo cool, because I can run a system without installing it on the new computer.

Well, that cool and fast it is not. First of all you need to get Windows Installed to get Express Gate installed later on. You may ask yourself, WTF?, but hey, that is how it works: Infact it is not installed on the motherboard. You need to install it on a Harddisk first. That means you have the usual 3h+ Installation time of windows incl. the latest drivers and the reboot-championship (if windows loves something, then this is time-consuming rebooting over and over again) and finally a day after or so you can try ASUS “Express” Gate.

So there is a lot that can made better before this Feature is a true Feature – at least in my eyes.

Did I mention you have to have your harddisks run in IDE mode for that Feature?
