2007-10-21 did-ya-know: shift click in Opera

Well it’s not a secret that I use opera and I love opera (art and browser). But did you know that shift-click (opens a new tab/window) works as well with javascript links in opera? that’s the browser i like. This is how interoperability and usability meet and add to itself at best.

2007-10-17 let’s rant about usb again – canon

some days ago i had a discomfortable time with samsung and their messed up usb sticks because of MTP. samsung is not the only company who isn’t clearly focussing on usability and interoperability. canon is a good laugh as well. i was testing the popular canon EOS 400D. with kubuntu it was as much as plugging the cable in and kphoto offered to leech all the the nice RAW pictures. and on windows? You aren’t even able to download drivers and software from the canon homepage. I don’t know which way these companies choose but, hey, I wouldn’t support windows systems either much longer ;)

2007-10-10 Samsung YP-U3J without Media Player 10

Why not reinvent the wheel and create a protocol for exchanging files between the desktop and the mp3-player? Well you could handle this like any other USB Stick with a FAT32 filesystem, but hey, that’s too simple. And that’s maybe why Microsoft and Canon announced MTP some time ago. Or they wanted only to make your life less comfortable. How does it look like in practise?
