2009-12-13 Does giving the thing a new name changes a thing?

If it’s hard to describe something then you should think about whether there actually is something to describe or not. WordPress.org announces a somewhat whishy-washy concept of some “you name it” – plugins that are acually, well, plugins and – tada – hosted in the plugin repro. Needles to say, this already existed not only since years. In the a-historical announcement, it’s totally forgotten to discuss if somethings missing or not with the existing system.

But the publication is not talking simple plain. The Idea is somewhat “much better” in multiple adjectives that could ever count with software (from compability, over quality to security and bla bla bla). And the Idea is somewhat “that big” that it will need another’s months to discuss with the community. Blah. Not to forget that the core code contains most of the problems itself. Did I mention that you can even tag forum posts with your plugin name and then… .

This is soo much blah that I really ask myself if there is anything in than hot air and schnack sülz. Having a current repro and ignorantly restarting with ideas-only is more than one step back.
