2008-02-21 RANT: AVG support sucks

AVG is a software company that might produce software that under specific circumstances might or might not work. What I’d like to totally rant about and with this suggesting to put AVG to my personal blacklist is that their support in the circumstances that AVG might mock up a emailsoftware configuration that then exported to another computer while being migrated disables the Emailcapabilities of the new computer. Enough said?

Well infact their support – according to the documents on their website – only is there for registered customers. Since it’s a new box, there is no licence. Well done! I think this clearly shows how important it is to have a customer support, not a license driven support. A model that FOSS has taken to a far better achievement.

Update: Even after asking standard questions about technical information on how AVG interacts with Emailclients/Email-Communication they could not provide any specific Information. It’s a pitty that I can only communicate that only.
